This full-time position combines independent engineering ownership with close collaboration across a growing healthcare research organization serving communities through research sites, mobile clinics, and clinical teams.
Responsibilities
- Build and deploy scalable AI products that accelerate clinical trials and improve patient outcomes.
- Develop ML models and LLM-powered agents for patient recruitment, enrollment forecasting, and study feasibility, while extending the AI knowledge base architecture.
- Create reliable data pipelines and production deployments using Python, Clojure, AWS services such as Athena, Bedrock, and SageMaker, dbt, Prefect, and CI/CD automation with monitoring.
- Work with data scientists, product managers, designers, engineers, and domain experts to integrate AI into clinical research workflows.
- Track advances in LLMs, NLP, probabilistic modeling, and related methods, experiment with promising approaches, and turn prototypes into production features.
- Automate and improve processes while balancing detailed engineering work, empathy, communication, and a willingness to learn.
Required Qualifications
- At least five years of hands-on experience building and deploying production ML solutions at scale, including pipelines from data ingestion through model serving.
- Strong Python skills with pandas, scikit-learn, and TensorFlow or PyTorch, clean coding practices, complex SQL, large datasets, and modern data processing frameworks.
- Experience with AWS or similar cloud infrastructure and Docker or comparable containerization tools.
- Familiarity with MLOps, CI/CD, automated testing, performance monitoring, and data drift detection.
- A strong foundation in model selection, training, evaluation, feature engineering, statistical modeling, NLP, and large language models.
- Analytical problem-solving that balances scientific rigor with performance and maintainability.
- Interest in improving clinical trials and patient outcomes, with empathy for patients, clinicians, and researchers and a commitment to unbiased AI.
