Human Resources Specialist

Role overview

The Human Resources Specialist manages employee lifecycle processes, HRIS accuracy, and operational compliance for a remote workforce across multiple U.S. states. Reporting to the VP, People, this first dedicated generalist combines hands-on HR execution with empathetic employee support, data-informed decisions, and AI-assisted workflows. The position helps build and refine People programs within an employee benefits services and technology organization.

Employee Lifecycle and People Operations

  • Maintain accurate HRIS records, employee data, and lifecycle status changes.
  • Map and document People Operations processes, keeping standard operating procedures and employee handbooks clear and current.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement automation and AI workflows that streamline daily HR tasks.
  • Support total rewards administration, policies, and wellness initiatives for a remote workforce.
  • Maintain operational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, multi-state remote-work guidance, and documentation standards.
  • Support culture initiatives, peer recognition, and remote team connection while demonstrating optimism, accountability, consideration for others, and healthy work practices.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Three to five years of equivalent practical experience in a multi-state, remote environment.
  • Hands-on experience managing modern HR technology such as Rippling and Lattice.
  • Comfort using AI productivity tools such as Gemini to automate workflows, draft communications, and improve operational processes.
  • Practical knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, and FLSA, and multi-state compliance considerations for remote employees.
  • Clear, thoughtful communication; strong problem-solving; adaptability; solution-building; and data-informed decision-making.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with a remote team.
  • Ability to work remotely from within the United States.

Preferred Background

  • Experience in HR technology, employee benefits, or a SaaS platform environment; understanding benefits brokerages is an additional advantage.
  • HR certification listed in the posting as SHRM-SP, PHR, or equivalent.
  • Project management experience and familiarity with lightweight tools such as Jira or Monday.com.

Remote Work and Pay

The position is fully remote and may be performed from anywhere within the United States; employees must be U.S.-based. Estimated annual base salary is USD65,000–USD80,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The approximate 2,080-hour equivalent is USD31.25–USD38.46 per hour, calculated for comparison rather than offered as an hourly rate.

Final offers depend on factors including experience and expertise and may differ from the stated range. The range represents base salary only and excludes incentive pay, equity, and benefits.
