About the position
This full-stack engineering role supports a GovTech SaaS platform used by government agencies to manage administrative operations. You will deliver core features, contribute to architectural decisions, and help improve the platform's domain structure and workflow engine.
Core engineering work
- Build complex platform features, including versioning systems, approval workflows, and permission models.
- Contribute to architectural decisions that support multiple customer configurations.
- Document technical decisions through Architecture Decision Records and help modularize the core domain.
- Participate in architectural code reviews and improve automated quality checks.
- Use AI coding tools to reduce repetitive implementation work and focus on complex development.
- Refine AI-assisted engineering practices, including agent-based testing and automated reviews.
- Partner with product managers to turn ambiguous requirements into clear technical specifications.
- Deliver maintainable code with comprehensive testing, documentation, and observability.
Required experience and skills
- At least 3 years of professional full-stack development experience.
- Strong engineering fundamentals in system design, database optimization, and clean architecture.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and contribute to complex domain objects and production data models.
- Ability to take initiative and work through requirements that are not fully defined.
- Strong working knowledge of defensive coding practices and authorization models for protecting sensitive data.
- A record of writing clean, maintainable, thoroughly tested code.
Helpful additional experience
- Familiarity with React or Next.js.
- Strong Ruby on Rails knowledge and interest in or experience with modular monoliths.
- Experience with PDF generation, rich text editors, or secure workflows for processing unstructured data.
- Experience in regulated environments such as GovTech, FinTech, or HealthTech, including FedRAMP, SOC 2, or HIPAA.
- Experience with or a strong interest in learning AWS infrastructure, including ECS, EKS, and CloudWatch, and modern deployment pipelines.
- Experience contributing to a growing product at a startup with $5 million - $30 million in annual recurring revenue.
